Jeff and I were best friends; we met in 7th grade and hung out for the rest our high school years. We talked less frequently after high school, I went to IUP and then Pitt and Jeff joined the Navy. I was out of the country when I heard about his death; it was the fall of 1982. Jeff died of a massive brain aneurysm, a technical name for a stroke, I believe. Unusual for someone so young, but I remember being told he probably had this condition all his life. I visited his Mom on my return and recall his passing was quite difficult for her. Jeff was the oldest of six, but as the first, he was still her 'baby.’ She gave me a picture of Jeff and me. I still have it. It’s been almost 29 years and I still remember Czar quite clearly. He had some tough breaks, but always bounced back. His good mood was infectious. I wonder what he would done in the last 30 years, a short life, but he is still remembered and still missed.

Jeff was a great friend and I miss him to this day. He always told me that I worry too much which is still good advice.
