If there is a heaven, I hope to see you some day, young, walking down the railroad tracks, shoeless, wearing bell bottom jeans.  I remember those times very clearly.  You were a talented artist, who spent hours decorating your car with tissue flowers for senior graduation.  You chose “Free Bird’, the class song, with an enormous tissue bird on the car roof.  You should have been airborne over 35 miles per hour!  But you lost the car decorating contest to a butt on the trunk of a car that said ‘Kiss My Class.’  You just said, ‘Ah Man,’ and took the loss with a smile. Now it’s my turn to smile, good memories, you will be missed.

“Free Bird’ should have won, can we still contest this?  That is one last laugh for Karla………

Karla and I had lunch together at Baldwin everyday. I will never forget her smile and laughing. She was a great girl and I am deeply saddened.  I hope to see you in Heaven Karla along with all my other friends and family. You , like others are gone too soon, it isn't fair. God Bless. xoxoxo HUGS

I was just able to read my e-mail and it was a shock to hear about Karla's passing.
Although we didn't meet again since our graduation, I still remember vividly Karla's pleasant personality.

Thank you, Karla, for being the wonderful, kind person who even included me in your circle of friends long ago. I did not get the chance to tell you face to face that what you did meant more than I can put into words. I always hoped I might be able to thank you, for being my friend when I had so few. My prayers are with the Mauck and College families, and may the Lord send comfort and peace to the hearts of everyone who was blessed to know Karla.
